Professor Takuji Natori is the President of the International Society for Sandplay Therapy, a position he has held since August 2019. He is a Teaching Member of ISST, a member of the Japan Association of Sandplay Therapy, and an International Committee member of the Japan Society for Sandplay Therapy.
Natori serves as Professor in the Department of Clinical Psychology and the Graduate Program in Clinical Psychology at Kyoto Bunkyo University. His scholarly work addresses the practice of sandplay therapy through the lens of Japanese culture, examining symbols and myths that are particularly important in the Japanese context.
As ISST President, Natori has guided the international sandplay community through evolving challenges, including the adaptation of sandplay practice during periods of social distancing, with particular attention to the importance of relationships, transference, and countertransference in sandplay therapy.
