Professor Heyong Shen is a psychoanalyst in the International Association for Analytical Psychology and a sandplay therapist in the International Society for Sandplay Therapy. He serves as Professor of Psychology at South China Normal University and the City University of Macau, and is the founding President of the Chinese Federation for Analytical Psychology and Sandplay Therapy.
Shen is the principal figure in bringing both Jungian analytical psychology and sandplay therapy to China. He serves as Head of the China Development Organization for both IAAP and ISST, and has organized the International Conference for Analytical Psychology and Chinese Culture from 1998 through 2023. He is a Fulbright Scholar and a speaker at the Eranos East and West Roundtable.
His most significant humanitarian contribution is the Garden of the Heart & Soul charity project, which has established over 100 sandplay workstations in orphanages throughout mainland China, extending the healing power of sandplay to some of the most vulnerable children in the world.
