Dr. Alexia Rothman is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Atlanta, GA since 2004. She is a United States Presidential Scholar who graduated summa cum laude from Emory University as a Robert W. Woodruff Scholar. She earned her PhD in clinical psychology from UCLA, where she was an Edwin W. Pauley Fellow and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. She is a Certified Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist, an IFS-approved professional consultant, and a co-lead trainer for the IFS Institute. She has pioneered the integration of IFS with Stephen Porges' Polyvagal Theory, bringing autonomic nervous system science into direct conversation with parts work. This synthesis gives IFS a neurobiological grounding that connects the inner world of parts to the body's threat-detection systems. She co-hosts the IFS Talks and Explorations in Psychotherapy podcasts. She has published a book chapter on IFS-Polyvagal integration and has held adjunct faculty positions at Emory University and Agnes Scott College. She offers workshops, trainings, and retreats on the IFS model internationally, as well as professional IFS consultation for clinicians seeking to deepen their knowledge and practice of IFS.
