The Chacruna Institute's Foundations of Plant Medicine Facilitation, Integration and Ethics is a 10-week online course designed for psychotherapists, clinicians, and facilitators seeking rigorous grounding in plant medicine practice. Each week combines a 1-hour pre-recorded lecture with a 1.5-hour live Zoom discussion. Topics include the role and responsibilities of facilitators, trauma and psychedelic healing, harm reduction, ethics, the role of ritual and music, and fundamental psychology for psychedelic facilitators. The course awards 14 CE credits for psychologists through the Spiritual Competency Academy. Chacruna also offers separate courses on 'The Science of Psychedelic Healing' and 'Ayahuasca: Healing, Science, and Indigenous Knowledge' planned for 2026.

Focus areas

Depth orientation

Chacruna's course provides the ethical and clinical framework that depth-oriented clinicians need before engaging with plant medicine work — covering facilitator responsibilities, trauma dynamics in psychedelic healing, harm reduction protocols, and the role of ritual and music in ceremony. The 14 CE credits for psychologists signal genuine clinical rigor. The curriculum draws on both indigenous knowledge systems and contemporary psychotherapeutic theory.
