What the research mode is for
Deep Research is Seba’s long-form scholarly mode. It is built for a Jungian concept with several lineages, a symbolic problem that crosses myth and clinical theory, a book or passage that needs contextualization, or a research prompt that should become a structured argument rather than a quick answer.
Choose the artifact the question needs
Answer is direct, grounded, and citation-first. Essay develops a coherent interpretive argument from a bounded source packet. Study is the longest form: it exposes the live questions, disagreements, gaps, and bibliography rather than pretending the field closes cleanly.
A useful question names the live tension. “What is the shadow?” opens a conversation. “Where do Jung and Hillman part company on whether the shadow can be integrated, and what does von Franz add?” gives the desk a real problem to investigate.
How the desk searches
The research pipeline decomposes the question, searches across the held library, retrieves relevant passages, and reranks the material before the essay begins. The concordance and Seba’s own essays can orient that search toward the right shelf. They are maps, not substitute witnesses: quoted authority should resolve to the source itself.
The resulting essay is still an editorial research draft. Its receipts make the argument inspectable; they do not remove the need to read the works, test the synthesis, or revise the prose for your own use.
What to bring
Bring the question in ordinary language. If a thinker, text, tradition, or disagreement matters, name it. Tell Sebastian what you already know and what the essay should do — survey a field, clarify a dispute, build an argument, or give language to a problem. If you already know the exact question, say so and move directly to the research.
What the output is not
Deep Research does not provide therapy, diagnosis, treatment planning, emergency support, or clinical decision-making. It is a reader-facing research tool, not a substitute for clinical care or a general-purpose public data service.
