Raja Selvam, PhD

Raja Selvam, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist, international bestselling author, and the developer of Integral Somatic Psychology™ (ISP™), a somatic approach designed to improve the effectiveness of all therapy modalities. He is the author of 'The Practice of Embodying Emotions: A Guide for Improving Cognitive, Emotional, and Behavioral Outcomes' (published March 22, 2022), which has achieved international bestseller status. He has taught in over twenty countries on six continents for nearly thirty years.

Dr. Selvam developed ISP as an evolution of Somatic Experiencing (SE) work, having been one of Peter Levine's earliest senior trainers. ISP centers on a 7-Step Protocol for Embodying Emotion and is designed to help clients achieve optimal mental health by fully embodying their emotions. The approach is applicable across a wide range of therapeutic modalities and is used to address simple and complex traumas, developmental trauma, attachment issues, addiction, and somatic symptoms such as chronic fatigue and migraine.

In addition to his clinical and training work, Dr. Selvam offers professional training programs including the ISP Professional Training (available live online) and specialized courses such as a Developmental Trauma Course focusing on early developmental stages, and a Trauma, Emotion, and Spirituality course. His training programs include live demonstrations and practice sessions and lead to certification as an ISP Practitioner. He manages Integral Somatic Psychology, LLC, registered in San Diego, CA.
