About
Katharine Bainbridge, M.A., M.F.T., SEP is an IAAP Certified Jungian Analyst, Buddhist Psychotherapist, and Somatic Experiencing™ (SE®) Practitioner with nearly 30 years of clinical experience. Licensed as a psychotherapist since 1998 and certified as a Jungian Analyst through the IAAP in 2009, her approach to psychotherapy is integrative, trauma-informed, and depth oriented. She draws on Western psychology, ancient wisdom traditions, modern neuroscience, somatic awareness, and interpersonal neurobiology to support clients in connecting with both the wisdom of the body and the soul.
Katharine works with people who are drawn toward psychological depth and the transformative healing of trauma — often those who feel they have very few places in our culture to explore the symbolic nature of the psyche with grounded support that includes both the body and nervous system. She believes that emotional lives are shaped by families of origin and early experiences, as well as by ancestral inheritance, epigenetics, collective distress, and echoes of historical trauma. Working with dreams, the body, and the imaginal realm offers insight, clarity, direction, and hope.
Her practice integrates Jungian analysis with Somatic Experiencing, shamanic counseling, and touch-based somatic therapy. Her 30+ years of Tibetan Buddhist practice and study with indigenous healers in Nepal add a contemplative and cross-cultural dimension to her work. She sees local clients from Los Angeles in her private office in Encino, and is also affiliated with the Jung Institute of Los Angeles, where she teaches and leads retreats nationally on trauma recovery and meditation.
