About

Dr. Diane Poole Heller, PhD, LPC, SEP is a pioneering figure in trauma and attachment therapy. She is one of the original inner circle around Peter Levine, having begun Somatic Experiencing (SE) work in 1989 and taught on the SE faculty team since 1992. She developed the DARe (Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning experience) model, which bridges SE's nervous system focus with attachment theory — a widely adopted training now taught internationally to therapists, social workers, bodyworkers, mental health professionals, life coaches, and somatic therapists.

The DARe Certificate Program, her signature training, provides a thorough understanding of both early childhood and adult attachment, giving practitioners concrete tools to help change deep-rooted patterns and open the path to more secure relating. By introducing a unique blend of psychotherapeutic modalities, experiential strategies, neuroscience, and spiritual perspectives, the program moves beyond theoretical concepts to offer both novice and experienced practitioners a fast-track to learning and personal growth.

Dr. Heller is the author of three books including 'The Power of Attachment' and 'Crash Course,' and produced the documentary 'Surviving Columbine,' which was featured on CNN. She maintains a limited private practice in Louisville, CO alongside extensive international teaching and speaking engagements. Her work is brought to the public through her organization, Trauma Solutions.

Clinical Orientation

While not explicitly psychoanalytic, her DARe (Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning experience) model works with deep attachment patterns rooted in early developmental experience — territory that overlaps significantly with object relations and depth psychology. Integrates SE with Adult Attachment Theory to address unconscious relational patterns. 30 years of spiritual exploration informs her depth orientation.
