Kathy Cox

Kathy Cox, MSW, LICSW, is a Certified IFS Therapist, IFS Trainer, IFS-Institute Approved Clinical Consultant, and IFS Certification Reviewer with more than 25 years of experience as a psychotherapist. She lives and works in Olympia, Washington, where she is known for her humor, warmth, and deep expertise in the Internal Family Systems model.

Since 2003, Kathy has been learning, using, and teaching the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model of psychotherapy. She holds the highest IFS credentials, including Level 3 Certification and the role of Certification Reviewer, and trains therapists internationally. IFS is a non-pathologizing, non-hierarchical approach that helps individuals connect with their healing core — known as the 'Self' — in order to address and heal the parts carrying difficult thoughts and feelings.

Kathy has a special interest in trauma, grief and loss, and spirituality. She is deeply committed to supporting people in lessening or removing emotional, cognitive, and spiritual barriers that limit their full participation in life. This includes addressing the impact of systemic racism and other societal forces on individuals' wellbeing.

She currently offers IFS consultation and training to individual therapists, practitioners, and groups via telephone and Zoom, helping clinicians deepen their IFS skills and develop their Self leadership.
