About
Sambra Zaoui, LCSW, is an EMDRIA Certified EMDR psychotherapist and Sensorimotor Practitioner Level I, specializing in trauma interventions. She serves as an assistant professor of social work at Barry University, where she has lectured for the past 15 years on advanced clinical skills and the neurobiology of trauma, and presents nationally and locally on her work with survivors of complex trauma. She is the founder of EMDR Miami, Inc., and was recognized as the 2017 NASW Miami-Dade Social Work Educator of the Year. She is also a published author with publications on commercial sexual exploitation and childhood sexual abuse.
In her private practice, EMDR Miami, Inc., Sambra works with individuals, couples, and families who have trauma histories. Her expertise includes complex trauma, developmental trauma, PTSD, sexual assault, depression, anxiety, addictions, marital conflict, attachment issues, multigenerational transmissions, and perinatal and postpartum depression. She integrates cutting-edge trauma approaches — including Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing, IFS, Attachment Theory, and Narrative Therapy — together with EMDR to help clients process past traumas, present disturbances, and future anxieties within a calm, regulated nervous system.
With 25 years of devotion to her clients, Sambra wholeheartedly embraces the neuroscience perspective that trauma is stored in the nervous system. She believes effective healing requires somatic psychotherapeutic approaches that facilitate the body's release of what trauma holds captive. By inviting the body into the healing process and addressing personal and collective narratives, she empowers clients to create new, healthier narratives that promote new neural networks, solidifying healing and growth emotionally, spiritually, and cognitively.
Clinical Orientation
