LCSW, CASAC, EMDRIA Certified Therapist

About

Gwendolyn Feldman is a psychoanalytically trained psychotherapist based in New York City, practicing since 1997 and a certified psychoanalyst since 2008. Originally from Montreal, Canada, she immigrated to New York to pursue her career in therapy and completed a rigorous five-year degree in psychoanalysis at the National Institute of Psychotherapies in NYC. She is dedicated to providing a compassionate and safe environment for individuals, couples, and families, believing that genuine human connection is one of the most powerful tools for personal growth.

Before becoming a psychoanalyst, Gwendolyn worked in Child Welfare in Westminster, London, England, where she gained firsthand experience with acute childhood trauma and emotional impoverishment. This experience inspired her to pursue advanced trauma training. She also worked at an inpatient facility for substance abuse and alcoholism, which informed her dual certification as a substance abuse counselor (CASAC) — a clinical dimension that distinguishes her from most EMDR therapists.

Gwendolyn is EMDRIA Certified and is recognized as one of the top EMDR therapists in her field. She also offers couples counseling using the Terry Real method, known as Relational Life Therapy (RLT). Her specialties include inherited and intergenerational family trauma, narcissistic personality dynamics, CPTSD, and substance abuse. She offers worldwide telehealth services in addition to her in-person practice in Manhattan.

As a psychoanalyst, Gwendolyn underwent her own personal analysis three to four times per week during training — a requirement unique to psychoanalytic training that deepens understanding of the human psyche. She remains committed to continuously elevating her practice with the latest training and methodologies, while maintaining a consistent focus on establishing a secure foundational attachment as the cornerstone of effective therapy.

Integrates Internal Family Systems (Dick Schwartz), attachment-based therapy (Bowlby), somatic therapy, and relational talk therapy in conjunction with EMDR. A depth practitioner who understands that trauma lives in the relational field, not just in discrete events.
