About
Gerry Douglas is a Registered Counsellor and EMDR Clinician with over twenty-five years of professional experience, based in Birkenhead, Auckland. He holds a Master of Philosophy with Honours in Education from the University of Auckland, a Bachelor of Social Science in Psychology from the University of Waikato, and a Diploma of Teaching with Commendation from Wellington Teachers College. Douglas completed his basic and advanced EMDR training directly with the founder of the method, Dr. Francine Shapiro, in New York in 1997 and Sea Ranch, California in 1999, with further advanced study under Dr. Andrew Leeds in 2001. He is certified as an EMDR Clinician with the EMDR Institute in the United States and is registered with the New Zealand Christian Counsellors Association. In addition to EMDR, Douglas offers neurofeedback, biofeedback, and Interactive Metronome therapy, reflecting an integrative approach to nervous system regulation. His clinical practice addresses trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, learning difficulties, concussion recovery, and autonomic nervous system dysregulation. He offers both in-person sessions at his Auckland clinic and online EMDR therapy.
