Jan Wiener is a Society of Analytical Psychology (SAP) trained Jungian analyst, Training and Supervising Analyst, and former Director of Training at SAP (served on two separate occasions). Former Vice President of IAAP (2010-2013) with responsibility for developing analytical psychology internationally, especially Eastern Europe (pioneer in providing cross-cultural outreach to those seeking training in Russia, Taiwan, Serbia, Ukraine, and Denmark). Over 25 years as Consultant Adult Psychotherapist in NHS outpatient clinic — rare public health experience for a Jungian analyst. Journal of Analytical Psychology Board member. Her development was influenced by parents who fled from Vienna and Berlin to London, escaping persecution by the pre-war Nazi regime; her aunt was a child analyst who worked closely with Anna Freud. Author/editor of four books and numerous chapters and papers on training, transference, ethics, and supervision. Her book 'The Therapeutic Relationship: Transference, Countertransference and the Making of Meaning' (Texas A&M University Press, 2009) introduced the concept of the 'transference matrix.' Co-editor of 'Jungian Analysts Working Across Cultures' (Routledge). Also described as a singer. Speaks English and French. Registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC).
