David Solem is a diplomate Jungian analyst through the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts (IRSJA-IAAP) and a licensed clinical social worker practicing in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His educational background is remarkably broad: he holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from The Peabody Conservatory of Music, where he studied organ, harpsichord, and piano; a Certificate and M.A. in Pastoral Counseling and an M.A. in Spirituality from Loyola University of Chicago; and a Master of Social Work. This unusual combination of musical, spiritual, and clinical training gives his analytic work a distinctive depth and sensitivity.
Solem serves as a training analyst on the faculties of the C.G. Jung Institute of Santa Fe, the C.G. Jung Institute of Philadelphia, and the Memphis-Atlanta Jungian Seminar, reflecting his stature within the Jungian training community. He is a member of the New Mexico Society of Jungian Analysts. In his clinical practice, he works with clients on issues including anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship challenges, with particular expertise in LGBTQ+ concerns and trauma and PTSD.
Beyond his analytic work, Solem is an accomplished musician with over thirty-six years of experience in liturgical music. He serves as assistant organist for First Presbyterian Church in Santa Fe and as a member of the baroque ensemble for Santa Fe Pro Musica. His engagement with music, spirituality, and the inner life forms a seamless whole, bringing an artist's ear and a pastor's attentiveness to the practice of Jungian analysis.
