Let no man now accept the treasure from Alexander, nay, nor Helen; known is it, even to him who hath no wit at all, that now the cords of destruction are made fast upon the Trojans.
So spake he, and all the sons of the Achaeans shouted aloud, applauding the saying of Diomedes, tamer of horses.
μήτʼ ἄρ τις νῦν κτήματʼ Ἀλεξάνδροιο δεχέσθω
μήθʼ Ἑλένην· γνωτὸν δὲ καὶ ὃς μάλα νήπιός ἐστιν
ὡς ἤδη Τρώεσσιν ὀλέθρου πείρατʼ ἐφῆπται.
