About
Dr. Monnica T. Williams is a board-certified clinical psychologist, Professor, and Canada Research Chair in Mental Health Innovation and Equity at the University of Ottawa. Her work focuses on mental health in communities of color, psychopathology research, discrimination, and interventions to reduce racism. She has published over 200 peer-reviewed articles, primarily on trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and cultural concerns.
Dr. Williams serves on the Scientific and Clinical Advisory Board of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) and the Accreditation Panel of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA). She is a member of the Racial Equity and Access Committee of the Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines, and as a longstanding member of the Association of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (ABCT), she has served as associate and guest editor of several ABCT journals.
A leading voice on equity and inclusion in psychedelic therapy, Dr. Williams is a MAPS-trained therapist who has published on MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD in people of color. She is also a certified trainer in innovative relationship therapies and provides expert witness services in the US and Canada, offering insight into the role of discrimination on behavior and mental health. Her work has been featured in all major media outlets in the US and Canada.
