About

Jerry R. Wright, D.Min., is a Jungian psychoanalyst, training analyst, author, teacher, and pilgrimage consultant based in Flat Rock, North Carolina. A former Presbyterian minister, he served various churches over the span of 25 years before completing his Jungian analytic training in 2000. He is a training analyst with the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts, and his primary professional passion is the application of Jungian psychology to religion and spirituality, politics, and the care of the Earth.

Jerry is the author of three books published by Chiron Publications: 'Welcoming Our Gods Back Home: The Wisdom of Psychological Mysticism' (2026), 'A Mystical Path Less Traveled: A Jungian Psychological Perspective' (2021), and 'Reimagining God and Religion: Essays for the Psychologically Minded' (2018). He is available for teaching at conferences, retreats, workshops, and local Jung Societies on topics related to the integration of Jungian psychology and religion/spirituality.

Before his career in ministry and analysis, Jerry worked as a high school psychology teacher and guidance counselor, directed YMCA camps and programs, and served as a family counselor in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center. He has led pilgrimages to sacred sites around the world, including Iona (Scotland), Ireland, India, Peru and Machu Picchu, Africa, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Laos, and now serves as a pilgrimage consultant. His personal interests include hiking the trails of western North Carolina, traveling, gardening, and journaling.

Clinical Orientation

Jungian psychoanalysis deeply informed by 25 years of Presbyterian ministry. His work applies Jungian insights to religion, spirituality, politics, and care of the Earth. Leads pilgrimages to sacred sites as an extension of depth work. His books 'Reimagining God and Religion' and 'A Mystical Path Less Traveled' articulate a Jungian theology that honors both psyche and spirit.
