About
Ursula Shields-Huemer is a Jungian analyst and accredited supervisor based in Galway, Ireland. She is a member of the Irish Analytical Psychology Association and the International Association for Analytical Psychology, and serves as an accredited cross-professional supervisor within IAPA. She brings to her clinical work an integration of art therapy, analytical psychology, and creative expression.
Shields-Huemer holds an MA in Art Therapy and has developed her practice at the intersection of visual art, language, and the psyche. Her background in art therapy gives her particular sensitivity to non-verbal and image-based modes of psychological exploration, complementing the traditional verbal and interpretive dimensions of Jungian analysis. She is also a published poet whose work has grown from a longtime engagement with language and creativity, having studied with poets Kevin Higgins and Susan Millar DuMars in Galway.
Her clinical work draws on the full range of Jungian analytical methods while incorporating insights from art therapy and embodied creative practice. As one of a small number of IAAP-certified analysts in Ireland, she contributes to both the clinical and organizational life of the Irish Jungian community, including involvement in supervisory training and professional development.
