About

Sue Austin is a Jungian psychoanalyst offering analysis and analytic psychotherapy to adults with a wide range of issues. Over time, she has come to work increasingly with people with severe and chronic eating disorders who often come from backgrounds of complex trauma, have had multiple hospitalisations, and have a history of being treatment-resistant. This clinical focus has led to numerous publications and extensive domestic and international lectures, seminars, and workshops.

In 2003, Sue received a Ph.D. from the University of Sydney for her work on gender, identity, and analytical psychology. A book based on this doctoral work was published by Brunner-Routledge in 2005. Having trained with the Australian and New Zealand Society of Jungian Analysts, she is a training analyst member of ANZSJA and a member of the International Association for Analytical Psychology (IAAP). She is also a clinical member and supervisor with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), and an accredited member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED).

In addition to her clinical work, Sue specialises in supervising clinicians who work with adults who have eating disorders, working with individuals or small groups of psychologists, social workers, psychotherapists, counsellors, and other mental health professionals. She has been in private practice since 1993 and has been supervising other clinicians since 2001. Her practice is on Sydney's lower north shore, and she also works with supervisees online or by telephone.
