Founding figure of Pittsburgh Jungian analysis. Born 1943. Holds two PhDs — one in Clinical Psychology (Duquesne University, 1980) and one in Philosophy (Duquesne University, 2014). BA from Bard College, MA in Asian Philosophy from University of Hawaii (1968), MA in Psychology from New School for Social Research (1970). Adjunct Clinical Professor of Psychology and Clinical Supervisor at Duquesne University Psychology Clinic. Teaching and Training Analyst for the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts (IRSJA). Co-founded the Pittsburgh Society of Jungian Analysts (2004) and was first director and training coordinator of the C.G. Jung Institute Analyst Training Program of Pittsburgh (1981). Past President of the American Board and Academy of Psychoanalysis (ABAP). First President of 'Psychoanalyst Clinicians' Section 5 of APA Division 39. Author of The Black Sun: The Alchemy and Art of Darkness (2005), C.G. Jung and the Alchemical Imagination (2021), and Jung's Alchemical Philosophy (2022). Co-editor of the Encyclopedia of Psychology and Religion (2010). Recipient of Distinguished Service Awards from ABPP and ABAP (2019), ABAP Annual Book Prize (2021), and Best Theoretical Book Award from IAJS (2022).
