Spyros Karvounis

Dr. Spyros Karvounis is a Jungian analyst, cognitive analytic therapist, supervisor, and consultant psychiatrist based in North-West London. He is a senior analyst and member of the Independent Group of Analytical Psychologists, registered with the IAAP, UKCP, and IGAP. His clinical practice is distinguished by the integration of Jungian depth psychology with cognitive analytic therapy, informed by a longstanding interest in the philosophy of psychology and psychiatry. Karvounis co-developed psychological therapies for the Enfield Directorate within the NHS and introduced a researched CBT-based psychological approach for inpatient wards and community teams. He served for nine years as clinical director of a psychotherapy day hospital operating along therapeutic community principles. His teaching encompasses both psychotherapy and psychiatry, and he has presented theoretical and research papers at national and international conferences. He has led clinical teams across multiple NHS settings and is a qualified teacher and supervisor of cognitive analytic therapy at the London Deanery. Currently in private practice, he continues to teach and serves as a UKCP-registered supervisor, maintaining insight into the limitations and complementarities of diverse therapeutic perspectives.
