About

Nancy van den Berg-Cook is a clinical psychologist, Jungian psychoanalyst, and educator whose career represents a remarkable intellectual journey from the natural sciences to depth psychology. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Sciences from the University of Michigan in 1977, followed by a PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry and Cell Physiology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1982. After more than a decade of distinguished work as a research scientist, postdoctoral fellow, and laboratory manager, she pivoted to psychology in 1989, eventually completing a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from California Southern University in 2005.

Her certification as a Jungian analyst came through the IAAP individual training route in 2004, a rigorous pathway requiring over twenty years of study and clinical training. She maintains affiliations with IRSJA, AGAP, ISAP, and the IAAP, and currently serves as an instructor in the Clinical Psychology PhD program at Pacifica Graduate Institute. Her orientation is described as 'classical Jungian,' and she has developed a distinctive lecture series demonstrating that the archetypal patterns described by C.G. Jung can also be observed in biochemical and cell physiology systems.

Van den Berg-Cook maintains a private practice in both Amsterdam and Zeist, offering psychotherapy, couples counselling, and Jungian analysis. Having been an expatriate herself, she has specialized for over twenty years in working with expats in the Netherlands, understanding the psychological challenges of building a life in a new country. She also works with culturally mixed relationships. Her clinical expertise encompasses dream interpretation, fairy tale analysis, trauma and neuroscience, complexes, active imagination, alchemy in clinical settings, and psyche-soma relationships.
