About
Matthias Leutrum is an IAAP-certified Jungian analyst, licensed psychoanalyst, and visual artist practicing in New York City. Born in Stuttgart, Germany, he trained at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he earned his MFA with magna cum laude honors (Félicitations du Jury) in 1992. He completed his training as a Jungian analyst through the Jungian Psychoanalytic Association (JPA) in New York between 2014 and 2021 and has maintained a private psychoanalytic practice since 2014. He has presented at multiple Art and Psyche conferences, including Art and Psyche in the City in New York (2012), Art and Psyche: Layers and Liminality in Siracusa, Sicily (2015), and Art and Psyche: The Illuminated Imagination in Santa Barbara (2019). He also presented at the Journal of Analytical Psychology's Latin America Conference in 2021. Prior to his analytic career, Leutrum worked as an art educator for over fifteen years at institutions including The Gateway School and The Children's Storefront in New York City. He is a candidate member of the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis (NAAP) and practices in English, German, and French.
