About
Martin Hosken is a classically trained Jungian Psychoanalyst with a private practice in Truro, Cornwall, offering both in-person and remote sessions. He is a member of the International Association of Analytical Psychology (IAAP), the Independent Group of Analytical Psychologists (IGAP), and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). His path into analytical psychology is unconventional and richly layered: he originally trained as a carpenter while playing in punk bands, then returned as a mature student to study the applied arts, eventually completing a research degree at the Royal College of Art focused on the phenomenology of imagery.
That sustained inquiry into the nature of images led Hosken to commence his psychoanalytic training with the London-based Independent Group of Analytical Psychologists. He brings to the consulting room a sensibility shaped by craft, visual art, and an embodied understanding of creative process. He describes psychotherapy as a practical, creative engagement with the images, impulses, and emotions that define human nature, aiming to evoke a renewed sense of empowerment, authorship, and consciousness in those he works with.
Alongside his private practice, Hosken lectures part-time in The Human Condition at Falmouth University and facilitates reflective practice and supervision for a range of organisations including NHS Practitioner Health, Truro Diocese, and several educational safeguarding teams. He has presented on topics including Punk: A Time Without Father, exploring themes of initiation through the lens of subcultural experience. He is not currently accepting new clients.
