Maria Cristina Gurgel Marrey

Maria Cristina Gurgel Marrey is a psychologist and Jungian analyst practicing in São Paulo, Brazil. She is a member of the Sociedade Brasileira de Psicologia Analítica (SBPA), one of Brazil's IAAP-affiliated societies dedicated to the study and clinical application of C.G. Jung's analytical psychology. Her scholarly work engages the intersection of symbolic analysis, cinema, and depth psychology. In 2015, she authored a monograph through the SBPA titled LA LUNA, de Bernardo Bertolucci: leitura simbólica e aportes sobre relações incestuosas entre mãe e filho, padrão indiferenciado de consciência e aprisionamento no arquétipo da Grande Mãe, a 103-page study examining Bertolucci's 1979 film through the lens of archetypal symbolism. The work explores themes of incestuous relational patterns between mother and son, undifferentiated consciousness, and entrapment within the archetype of the Great Mother. Marrey maintains her practice in the Perdizes neighborhood of São Paulo, a residential district known for its concentration of mental health professionals.
