Marcel van den Akker is a clinical psychologist, registered psychotherapist, and Jungian psychoanalyst in private practice in Zwolle, the Netherlands. He obtained his doctoral degree in clinical and health psychology from the University of Leiden in 1995 and subsequently completed training leading to registration as a Jungian psychoanalyst with the International Association for Analytical Psychology. He holds membership in both the Nederlandse Associatie voor Analytische Psychologie and the Association of Graduates in Analytical Psychology. Van den Akker established his psychotherapy practice in The Hague in 1998 and expanded to Zwolle in 2018, working with clients presenting anxiety and mood disorders, trauma-related difficulties, personality-related concerns, relationship problems, psychosomatic conditions, and existential questions arising from life transitions. His scholarly interests extend to the intersection of psychedelics and analytical psychology, a subject on which he has contributed to the volume Psychedelics and Individuation: Essays by Jungian Analysts, including research on the phenomenology of microdosing and its relationship to the process of psychological connection and individuation.
