Laner Cassar

Laner Cassar, Ph.D., is a Jungian analyst, registered clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, and clinical supervisor based in Malta. He holds a doctorate in psychoanalytic studies from the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies at the University of Essex and is a member of the International Association for Analytical Psychology. Dr. Cassar currently heads the Psychology Department at Gozo General Hospital and serves as president of the Malta Depth Psychological Association, which he founded. He is also director of the Space for Imaginative Therapies Education and the International Network for the Study of Waking Dream Therapy. His primary research and clinical interest lies in the use and application of imagination in psychotherapy, bridging the traditions of Jungian active imagination and Robert Desoille's directed waking dream method. He is the author of Jung's Technique of Active Imagination and Desoille's Directed Waking Dream Method: Bridging the Divide, published by Routledge and nominated for the 2021 Gradiva Award. Dr. Cassar has contributed chapters to edited volumes in the field of analytical psychology and continues to serve as an independent researcher in the history of psychoanalysis and imaginative psychotherapy.
