About

Kenneth E. Kovacs is a certified Jungian analyst and diplomate of the C.G. Jung Institute in Kusnacht-Zurich, Switzerland, who maintains a private practice in the Baltimore, Maryland area. His path into analytical psychology is unusual and deeply rooted in his vocation as a minister: he has served as an ordained pastor in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) for over thirty-five years, holding positions in St. Andrews, Scotland; Mendham, New Jersey; and, since 1999, as Head of Staff and Pastor at Catonsville Presbyterian Church in Maryland.

Kovacs studied at Rutgers University, Yale Divinity School, and Princeton Theological Seminary before receiving his Doctor of Philosophy in practical theology, with a specialization in psychology and theology, from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. His academic work explores the intersection of theology and psychology, a rare convergence that informs his clinical approach. His publications include The Relational Theology of James E. Loder: Encounter and Conviction (Peter Lang, 2011) and Out of the Depths: Sermons and Essays (Parson's Porch, 2016), and he writes regularly for theological and psychological publications.

Kovacs serves on the board of the Jung Society of Washington and the Philemon Foundation, the organization dedicated to preparing for publication the complete works of C.G. Jung and related authors. His practice brings together the pastoral, the scholarly, and the analytic in a way that is particularly well suited to clients grappling with existential and spiritual dimensions of psychological suffering. His Psychology Today profile indicates he specializes in anxiety, depression, and life transitions.
