Kathrin Schaeppi

Kathrin Schaeppi is a federally licensed Jungian depth psychologist and psychotherapist based in Basel, Switzerland. After twenty years of international experience in communications, non-violent communication, and group processes for women, she turned to depth psychology as a second career. She earned her Diploma in Analytical Psychology from ISAPZURICH in 2017 and now serves as a training and supervising analyst there. She heads the Picture Interpretation Department at ISAPZURICH and co-founded its Picture Collection in 2021, reflecting her deep engagement with the visual and imaginal dimensions of the psyche.

Schaeppi's academic background is unusually rich and interdisciplinary. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences from the University of Massachusetts (1984), a Master of Liberal Arts in Women's Studies from San Diego (1992), an Executive Master of Science in Communications Management from the Università della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano (2000), and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Goddard College, Vermont (2008). This breadth of training informs her approach to embodied therapy, which integrates movement, writing, voice, painting, and active imagination alongside classical Jungian depth psychotherapy.

Her scholarly work focuses on the intersection of art and analytical psychology. Her published essays examine illuminating parallels in the life and art of Hilma af Klint and C.G. Jung, including a comparative analysis of af Klint's Swan paintings and Jung's mandala sketches. She lectures internationally and is a member of IAAP, AGAP, ASP, and PGB. She works with adults in both German and English.
