About
José Vicente Pestana Montesinos is a Jungian analyst and social psychologist based in Barcelona, Spain. He holds a Licenciatura in Psychology from the Universidad Central de Venezuela, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1993, and a doctorate in Psychology from the Universitat de Barcelona, awarded with the Extraordinary Prize in 2007. He is a titular analyst of the Sociedad Española de Psicología Analítica (SEPA), the IAAP-recognized member society in Spain, and through this affiliation holds membership in the International Association for Analytical Psychology. As a senior lecturer in the Department of Social Psychology and Quantitative Psychology at the Universitat de Barcelona, his academic research spans leisure studies, time perception, procrastination, physical activity, and quality of life, increasingly integrated with the Jungian analytical perspective. He is a member of the PsicoSAO consolidated research group and the Institute for Research in Education at the Universitat de Barcelona. Pestana also maintains a clinical practice offering psychological counseling with a Jungian orientation in the Gràcia neighborhood of Barcelona. He speaks Spanish, Catalan, and English, and his scholarly output bridges the empirical study of autonomous functioning with the depth-psychological tradition of analytical psychology.
