About
José Geraldo Salgado de Mendonça is a Jungian analyst and analytical psychologist based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, recognised by the International Association for Analytical Psychology (IAAP) through his affiliation with the Instituto Junguiano do Rio de Janeiro (IJRJ), a constituent institute of the Associação Junguiana do Brasil (AJB). His scholarly work engages the intersection of Jungian psychology and transformative experiential processes, as evidenced by his 2013 monograph Vivências Alquímicas no Processo Hoffman da Quadrinidade, which examines the Hoffman Quadrinity Process through the lens of the classical alchemical stages — nigredo, albedo, citrinitas, and rubedo — exploring how this practice supports spiritual development and personality transformation by providing movement and dynamism to psychic structure. The research was supervised by Dulcinea da Mata Ribeiro Monteiro. Mendonça maintains a consulting office in the Botafogo neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro. His work reflects the Brazilian Jungian tradition, which has developed a distinctive emphasis on the symbolic and alchemical dimensions of analytical psychology within the broader Latin American context of depth-psychological practice.
