About
John Hoedl is a Jungian analyst and psychotherapist in private practice in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. A graduate of the C.G. Jung Institute in Zürich, Switzerland, he is a Registered Canadian Counsellor and a member of both the Western Canadian Association of Jungian Analysts (WCAJA) and the Association of Graduates in Analytical Psychology (AGAP). Before commencing his analytical training, Hoedl worked for a number of years as a frontline youth worker and counsellor in group homes and residential treatment centres, grounding his subsequent analytic practice in direct clinical experience with vulnerable populations. He currently serves as president of the International Society for Psychology as the Discipline of Interiority (ISPDI) and as chair of the Pan-Canadian Society of Analytical Psychology (PCSAP), reflecting his active engagement with the institutional and intellectual dimensions of the Jungian tradition. His clinical work centres on the recognition that the human psyche possesses an inherent desire for psychological development and balance, employing the process of individuation to help clients work with unconscious complexes and foster deeper self-understanding. He is also active as a lecturer and seminar leader, presenting on topics related to Jung's concept of the soul in psychology.
