About

Guy Albert, PhD, is a Certified Jungian Analyst and California Licensed Psychologist (PSY20961) based in Berkeley, CA, with over 25 years of experience in mental health and social services settings. His path to psychology led him through roles as a caregiver, social worker, and psychotherapist before completing post-licensure certification as a Jungian Analyst through the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco. His research on the positive resolution of mental health crises was selected for presentation at the American Psychological Association annual convention in Washington, DC in 2006. He has also served as a part-time faculty member, supervisor of clinical interns, and developed and managed a child counseling program addressing individual and family therapy, intake, assessment, and complementary care.

His training spans an unusually broad range of modalities, including Transpersonal, Existential-Humanistic, Process-Oriented, and Somatic Psychology, as well as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Expressive Arts, and Sandplay. He works with adults, teens, and couples on issues including chronic depression and anxiety, spiritual emergencies, dissociative processes, drug-induced psychosis, substance abuse, LGBT concerns, aging, loss, dreams, attachment, social anxiety, and marginalization related to race, ethnicity, immigration, and disability. He also provides Jungian-oriented and psychodynamic consultation and supervision for therapists and trainees.

Born in a French-speaking area of Canada, Guy has lived in the US for most of his adult life and is deeply engaged with the Bay Area's social diversity and cultural richness. He embraces an integrative approach to wellness that includes yoga, meditation, physical exercise, and alternative therapies, viewing psychotherapy as a foundational container for holistic well-being. He is a member of the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco, the International Association for Analytical Psychology, the American Psychological Association, the California Psychological Association, the Alameda County Psychological Association, the Spiritual Emergence Network, and Gaylesta.
