Ester Haumann

Ester Haumann is a Clinical Psychologist, Jungian Analyst, and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner with over forty years in private practice in Cape Town. She graduated with an MSc in Clinical Psychology cum laude from the University of Stellenbosch in 1975 and completed a PhD in Psychotherapy from Rhodes University in 2005. Her analytic training culminated in membership of the Southern African Association of Jungian Analysts and the International Association for Analytical Psychology in 2009.

Dr. Haumann's career reflects an integrative trajectory through multiple modalities of depth and body-oriented psychotherapy. She obtained a Senior Diploma in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the South African Institute for Psychotherapy in 1994, completed Phase III Hypnotherapy certification with the South African Society of Clinical Hypnotherapy in 1996, and achieved Somatic Experiencing Practitioner certification from the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute in 2015. Her practice emphasizes the inseparability of mind and body, incorporating embodied approaches to dreamwork and the therapeutic processing of trauma.

Her clinical focus addresses individuals contending with life crises, early trauma and attachment difficulties, mood and anxiety disorders, and struggles with affect regulation and interpersonal boundaries. She lectures at UWC (1981-1982) early in her career and has maintained continuous private practice since 1983. She is a member of SAAJA, the South African Psychoanalytic Confederation, the IAAP, the International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, and the International Association for Jungian Studies.
