About

David Genty is a Jungian psychoanalyst trained at the C.G. Jung Institute in Zürich, Switzerland, where he holds the positions of Training Analyst, Supervisor, and accredited Instructor member. He is a member of the International Association for Analytical Psychology, is registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, and serves as a senior analyst at the Independent Group of Analytical Psychologists in London. He currently holds the position of President of the C.G. Jung Foundation in Zürich.

Genty's academic background encompasses philosophy and theology at Jesus College, Oxford, with a particular focus on Gnosticism and the language of religious experience, followed by further studies in art history at the University of Kent, Canterbury. This trajectory led to an international career in the art world before his turn toward analytical psychology. His doctoral thesis explores the dream, active imagination, and self-remembering, and he maintains a particular interest in the practice of the image, including the use of pictures and sandplay in analysis.

His private practice in Hastings Old Town offers Jungian analysis, sandplay therapy, and supervision. Sessions are available face-to-face and by video link. Genty has also worked in a local NHS acute psychiatric unit, bringing clinical breadth to his depth-psychological orientation. He specializes in depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship difficulties, personal development, and creative blocks.
