Depth-OrientedMSW, LCSW
Ashland, VA, United States
About
Carol Jacobs, MSW, LCSW is a Jungian-oriented psychotherapist with over thirty years of counseling experience, serving the Richmond, Virginia metropolitan area from her private practice in Ashland. Her work is deeply informed by Jungian Analytical Psychology and the embodied feminine psychology of Marion Woodman, one of the most influential Jungian analysts of the twentieth century. Jacobs is a graduate of the Marion Woodman Foundation's BodySoul Rhythms Leadership Training Program and trained in BodySoul intensives directly with Woodman herself — a lineage that places her in a distinctive tradition within depth psychology.
Jacobs earned her graduate degree from The Catholic University in Washington, D.C. and holds licensure as a Clinical Social Worker. She serves as a presenter for the Marion Woodman Foundation, a faculty member of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, and a faculty member of the Chrysalis Institute. Her clinical approach integrates Family Systems Theory, Somatic Experiencing, dream work, guided imagery, and body movement with creative therapeutic expression.
Beyond her clinical work, Jacobs is a classically trained pianist who studied with professors from the Eastman School of Music and has participated in the Van Cliburn International Amateur Piano Competition. This artistic sensibility infuses her therapeutic practice with an appreciation for the creative process as a pathway to wholeness. She offers psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress, and divorce, as well as healing workshops and retreats.
