About
Birgit Heuer is a Jungian analyst and psychotherapist who has maintained a private practice in London for over thirty years. She trained initially in body-oriented psychotherapy before completing her Jungian analytic training through the British Association of Psychotherapists (BAP), and she is registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council. She has served on the BAP training committee and worked as a clinical supervisor at Kingston University.
Heuer teaches on several Jungian-analytic training programs and holds academic affiliations with Birkbeck College, University of London, and the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies at the University of Essex. Her published work and international lectures address a range of themes at the intersection of embodiment and analytical practice, including the body in analysis, forgiveness, spirituality in the consulting room, and clinical paradigm. She has contributed chapters to edited volumes and published papers in peer-reviewed journals, including work on post-Jungian approaches to healing cumulative relational trauma.
Heuer's current research centers on sanatology — the study of healing — which she is developing as a doctoral thesis. Her sustained attention to the somatic dimension of the analytic encounter, combined with her engagement with questions of clinical paradigm across the history of analytical psychology, positions her work at a generative boundary between body-centered and classical Jungian approaches.
