About
Betsy Perluss is a licensed psychotherapist, certified Jungian analyst, and wilderness guide with over thirty years of clinical and teaching experience. She holds a PhD in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute and completed her certification as a Jungian Analyst through the C.G. Jung Institute of Colorado in 2023. She is licensed in California as both a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
Perluss's work is distinguished by its integration of depth-psychological practice with wilderness-based rites of passage. In addition to maintaining a private practice in Grass Valley, California, she guides programs and trainings with the School of Lost Borders, a nonprofit on the Eastern Sierra dedicated to vision fasting and initiatory wilderness work. She also teaches ecopsychology courses at Pacifica Graduate Institute. Prior to entering full-time private practice in 2012, she spent a decade on the counselor education faculty at California State University, Los Angeles.
Her clinical focus encompasses life transitions, grief, burnout, anxiety, depression, and recurring relational patterns, approached through Jungian analysis, dreamwork, active imagination, and attention to bodily experience. Her scholarly and practical interest in the relationship between psyche and nature positions her at the intersection of ecopsychology, depth psychology, and initiatory tradition. She offers sessions both in person in Grass Valley and remotely via telehealth.
