About
Begüm Gürses-Sulzer is a Jungian analyst trained at ISAP Zürich (International School of Analytical Psychology), where she completed her training in 2023. Born and raised in Istanbul — a city that literally and metaphorically bridges Europe and Asia — she completed her bachelor's studies in economics in upstate New York and her master's studies in actuarial science at HEC Lausanne before settling in Switzerland.
Gürses-Sulzer's transition from the financial sector to depth psychology was catalyzed by her own transformative encounter with Jungian analysis. She has been offering individual analytic sessions since 2018 and conducts therapy in English, French, and Turkish. She maintains offices in both Zürich and Biel/Bienne, and also offers sessions online.
Her clinical and intellectual interests center on the psychology of altruism and helping, the unconscious dynamics operative in the helping professions, codependency, addiction, and burnout. She gives lectures and seminars at ISAP and serves as a regular faculty member at the JUNG Archademy. She holds membership in the IAAP, serves as an executive member of AGAP (Association of Graduate Analytical Psychologists), and sits on ISAP's Council. Her work reflects a sustained commitment to illuminating the shadow dimensions of caregiving and the unconscious costs of compulsive helping.
