About
Barbara Holifield is a Jungian Analyst, Marriage and Family Therapist, and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) with over 34 years of clinical experience. She is the Program Chair of Training at the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco and faculty at Esalen Institute. She taught in the Somatic Psychology program at CIIS (California Institute of Integral Studies) for many years. Her book, Being with the Body in Depth Psychotherapy: Development, Trauma and Transformation in the Unspoken Realm, was published by Routledge in 2024. She works from a Jungian, Depth psychotherapeutic base, integrating decades of experience with Somatic Psychology, including Somatic Experiencing, the Polyvagal Theory of Emotion, and Authentic Movement. She currently offers consultation services (not direct therapy) including in-person and telehealth consultations, as well as study groups on her book. She creates a warm, safe, nonjudgmental space to explore therapeutic dilemmas and helps therapists learn to integrate embodied experiences.
