About
Arthur Taylor Funkhouser is a Jungian analyst and dream researcher practicing in Bern, Switzerland. Born in 1940 in Evansville, Indiana, and raised in Oklahoma City, Funkhouser holds a bachelor's degree in physics from MIT, a master's degree in science and engineering from the University of Michigan, and a doctorate from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. After an early career in coherent optics, holography, and metrology at institutions including the National Bureau of Standards, he underwent a decisive vocational turn and entered training at the C.G. Jung Institute in Zürich, graduating with a Diploma in Analytical Psychology in 1981.
Since 1989, Funkhouser has led a seminar in dreamwork at the Jung Institute Zürich, serving as a laboratory instructor for analysts in training. He is an active member of the International Association for the Study of Dreams and has conducted workshops in dreamwork in Australia, Switzerland, and the United States. His published research spans dream analysis, precognition, and déjà experiences, and he has co-directed a research project on the effects of dream-telling supported by two grants from the Swiss National Science Foundation. With over fifty scientific publications across holography, perimetry, and dream research, Funkhouser represents a distinctive interdisciplinary bridge between the physical sciences and depth psychology.
