About
Andrea Mikonowicz, MFT, is a Los Angeles-based psychotherapist offering an innovative, whole-person approach to therapy that integrates the body, mind, and psyche. She specializes in trauma, depression, anxiety, couples and relationships, and psychedelic integration, drawing on modalities such as EMDR, walking therapy, Jungian dream work, imagery, and art to help clients reprocess old traumatic events and move past unhelpful patterns.
Andrea's path into psychology began during her undergraduate studies in Women's Studies, where she recognized a need for therapists who could create a truly safe and connective space for clients. A transformational therapy experience at age fourteen showed her firsthand that feelings are valid and that change is possible—an insight that has deeply informed her clinical philosophy. She is particularly motivated by the opportunity to examine and interrupt intergenerational trauma, understanding how unaddressed experiences of poverty, war, and social subjugation can be passed down through families and shape how children learn to express vulnerability, emotion, and self-advocacy.
At the core of Andrea's philosophy is the belief that our earliest attachments and relationships teach us how to engage with the world and with ourselves. She works to help clients identify the root causes of their distress—whether stemming from relationship issues, personal mental health concerns, or developmental and intergenerational trauma—so they can begin to untangle the control that trauma, anxiety, depression, or relational difficulties have over their lives. Her goal is to help each person move toward health, wellness, and authenticity, one person at a time.
